It's not Adler's fault – it's the mean critics!

Andrew Adler's op-ed received a huge backlash. But the reaction from at least one senior Jewish reporter is working hard to shift attention away from Obama's legitimate critics.

The journalist in question is Haaretz's Kemi Shalev. who writes:

Like most of you, I have never met Andrew B. Adler, owner and publisher of the Atlanta Jewish Times. Nevertheless, I think we can all agree that this guy is shockingly stupid.

Very good. But he continues:

And we may all assert that there is no Jew anywhere in the world currently contemplating acts of violence against President Obama…

the current?

I know, and most of you know, that Adler's crazy and criminal proposals are not the rants of a crazy person. They weren't taken out of thin air. Rather, they are the inevitable result of the enormous amount of disgusting venom that some of Obama's political opponents, both Jewish and non-Jewish, have continued to spew over the past three years.

Anyone who has spent any time talking to Obama's vocal detractors, Jewish or not, is bound to believe that he is still a Muslim and that he is completely convinced that Obama wants to destroy him. You're going to run into some nasty lunatics who are convinced – and there are many – of Israel, and that he's more like Ahmadinejad than Arafat, or – and I'm going to talk about this. I heard it with my own ears–I'm seriously debating whether he resembles Hitler more than Haman.

That's it! Adler's comments are not the result of one Jewish reporter, but of all of Obama's critics. In fact, calls for someone's assassination are the “inevitable outcome” of such legitimate criticism.

While it is understandable that Mr. Shalev would want to distract the errant colleague, perhaps he should consider the following:

There's a big difference between calling for someone's assassination and questioning that person's suitability for the job. file a lawsuit in court. I have never heard calls for Obama's assassination based on claims that he was born in Kenya or that he might be a Muslim.

And there's a big difference between comparing Obama to Hitler and advocating for his assassination. After all, it is quite reasonable to point out the following points This year's NDAA It is an enabling act, or President Obama's He reiterated that he is working hard to get things done without Congress. equals dictatorship or he is a dictator build a private army outside Naturally, the chain of command can be compared to the SS.

Mr. Adler's article is condemnable. Because taking action without due process or the rule of law is reprehensible. But Shareef's comments are similar, arguing that we should all really keep our mouths shut because criticizing the president-to-be would lead to calls for his assassination.

silently agreeMr. Shalev. I silently agree.
