A network of connections from the founding of a political charity called Common Purpose by powerful international banks, through secret meetings to set up the Media Standards Trust, to the creation of a highly politicised furor by the Hacked Off campaign for government control of the British press and media, through the government's own agent, Leveson.
Formed in the mid-to-late 1980s, Common Purpose has grown into a powerful and insidious political charity with one goal: to transform British society into a uniquely communal model. Shared Purpose The company has never revealed the identities of its founding donors or explained how it raised public funds through governments, but it has opaque, incestuous relationships with a number of international banks and large corporations.
In 2005, CP chairman David Bell and chief executive Julia Middleton held a debate on media standards in Bell's Pearson offices. The private meeting was attended by bankers, representatives of the Bank of England, the BBC's Robert Peston, bishops, academics and other, largely anonymous, people.
This unelected, unaccountable group decided that British press and media standards were largely unprofessional and mired in illegal practices, that they needed improvement and strict regulation, and that journalists and publishers needed to be held to account. So the Belle Middleton gang created the Media Standards Trust to carry out just that job, whilst acting as an “external authority” in their self-imposed position as guardians of press standards.
Common Purpose is Media Standards Trust Though independent, it was founded by Common Purpose and MST also shared offices with Common Purpose, but even after it moved to Portobello Road some time later, MST's incestuous relationship with Bell and Common Purpose continued.
The Media Standards Trust has stoked criticism and fear in the press and on social media. Hacked Off The campaign actively promoted a government-led inquiry into press and media standards, with the explicit aim of supporting the establishment of a new, more powerful body to replace the existing Press Complaints Commission.
Aided by Common Purpose's powerful covert lobbying programme against the Government and the Civil Service, a torrent of self-generated “celebrity” media complaints, and the publicity of the Guardian's takedown of a piece about Milly Dowler, Justice Leveson was duly appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. “The Leveson Inquiry” To investigate the culture, practices and ethics of the British press. To maintain strict independence, his senior committee member was none other than Common Purpose's Sir David Bell. Leveson's findings were subsequently published as his own Leveson Report.
Leveson wanted to introduce strict state control over the British press and media, but his plans Daily Mail The newspaper ran an 11-page exposé on the role of Sir David Bell, Julia Middleton and their Common Purpose allies in a conspiracy against a free press and media.
The Leveson Inquiry “Independent” Press Standards AuthorityHowever, the power of this new medium was severely limited by scrutiny and the public exposure of vested interests, and by the fact that most editors did not join IPSO.
In publishing their in-depth analysis of the Leveson Inquiry and the Common Purpose Scam, the Daily Mail used UKColumn and Source An investigation into both Common Purpose and the Media Standards Trust and the organisations funding this dangerous attack on press freedom.
The diagram above provides a clear visual overview of the people, organizations, and events involved in the conspiracy to subvert free speech.
Despite the overwhelming evidence of the company's actions and intentions regarding Leveson and state control of the press, Common Purpose claims the entire incident was a “wrong” and that people were “confused” about its involvement in Leveson.
UKColumn continues to warn that Common Purpose is continuing its dangerous political and social change agenda, with ‘super-authoritative leadership’ now being replaced with ‘cultural intelligence.’ Operating in the UK and around the world, Common Purpose seeks to create a society in which a superstate of unelected ‘future leaders’ controls every aspect of our lives.
