In the last few days, a very brave detective from the Metropolitan police has given public testimony about the systematic cover-up of child abuse that is widespread primarily in London, but also across the UK. He has described the nature and scale of child abuse, including grooming, sexual abuse, prostitution, trafficking and cover-up, involving the police, politicians, local authorities, social services and charities.

In the last few days, a very brave detective from the Metropolitan police has given public testimony about the systematic cover-up of child abuse that is widespread primarily in London, but also across the UK. He describes the nature and scale of child abuse, including abduction, sexual abuse, prostitution, trafficking and cover-up, involving the police, politicians, local authorities, social services and charities.
The consequences for speaking out included intimidation and harassment within the police force, threats of disciplinary action, being labelled mentally ill and having his salary withheld.
His courage in coming forward as a whistleblower is remarkable.
Listen to his hour-long audio testimony here:

He recounts events clearly, concisely, carefully and professionally.
In accordance with your Ministerial responsibilities and duties of care to uphold the law and to protect victims, witnesses and whistleblowers, please explain what steps you will take to protect this man, to address the serious criminal matters he has raised about child abuse, and to ensure that anyone found guilty of a criminal offence or offences relating to public office, such as public misconduct, is brought to justice.
These issues are overwhelmingly of public interest and, indeed, are the subject of social debate.
We look forward to your written response.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Brian Gerrish
