UK-based music journalist Mark Sutherland has launched a new podcast, Money Trench – The Music Industry Podcast. mark Sutherland
Mike Walsh, former head of music at XFM/Radio X, will serve as executive producer on the new podcast, which will launch on the streaming platform on Monday 24th June.
Named after “an infamous Hunter S. Thompson misquote” about the music industry, “The Money Trench” will “provide listeners with compelling insights from the front lines of the global music industry every Monday,” according to the announcement.
The first episode features Lorna Clarke, BBC's Director of Music, who talks about her career and the BBC's running of Glastonbury, the UK's biggest music and media event.
Music industry guests confirmed to appear in future episodes include Ferdi Unger Hamilton (Promised Land Music, ex-Columbia, Polydor, Virgin), Tara Richardson (T Time Management, ex-Q-Prime), PR guru Alan Edwards (Outside Organisation – Prince, David Bowie, Spice Girls) and Darkus Bees OBE (Darko Recordings/Warner Music UK, ex-Island Records).
Other upcoming guests include Toby L (co-founder of Transgressive) and team, Annabella Coldrick (CEO of MMF), Ben Wynter (Power Up, AIM), and Caroline Elleray and Mark Gale (Second Songs, formerly Universal Music Publishing).
Mark Sutherland is a UK-based music journalist and broadcaster with over 30 years' experience. His writing and editing work has appeared in publications such as Billboard, Music Business Worldwide, Music Week, NME, Rolling Stone and Variety, and he has also contributed to BBC Radio 6 Music.
Executive Producer Mike Walsh is the former Head of Music at UK-based radio station XFM/Radio X. Walsh's career spans major labels, artist management, technology and radio.
He began his career at Parlophone more than 30 years ago and is now an artist manager, an ERA board member and a partner at music retailer Serenade.
