Multi-award-winning podcast 'Where Are You Going?' has partnered with Londoner Buses to collect untold stories of Routemaster passengers.
Show host Catherine Carr has traveled the world asking strangers one simple question, revealing heartbreaking, funny and sometimes surprising stories about their lives.
The podcast has been described as “highly compelling” by the Financial Times and named “Podcast of the Year” by the Radio Times, and will air from April 2023.
Now, for the first time, Carr will be taking the microphone onto London's Routemaster bus route T15 (Tower Hill to Trafalgar Square) from July until the end of August to uncover more stories.
Catherine Carr said: “Asking the simple question, 'Where are you going?' can reveal an incredible number of stories. On the bus, I met Londoners on their way to work and tourists from Hungary, Mexico and Gibraltar, and they all told me completely unexpected stories about their lives.”
“I met a woman from Gibraltar who worked on the island for two weeks and still lives there 40 years later. She was celebrating a friend's 50th birthday on the boat. She told me about the real divisions Brexit has caused on the island and how to survive in a small community. Her best advice: get involved!”
The show is produced by award-winning content production company Loftus Media and is the brainchild of director and executive producer Jo Rowntree, who said: “The success of podcasts lies in the way they allow listeners to enter into someone else's life for just a few minutes.”
“It’s really refreshing to connect with strangers in this way, especially in such divided and sometimes divisive times.
“You'll get to 'meet' people you'd never have the chance to meet in real life! We're confident that new and existing listeners will find something resonating with the stories of these passengers.”
“Where Are You Going” is available on all podcast platforms.
