Mark Dixon, 54, started producing the Local Heroes podcast in April after his small skateboard company, Liberalis clothing, was discovered by Prism Studios.
Mark, a contractor by trade, has been in the business for about seven years and had the idea to produce a podcast showcasing the work of other Warrington entrepreneurs.
“I was struck by the value of people taking on a challenge,” he said.
“When you see things like closed stores, it means the end of someone's dream, but people don't really understand that.
“But you realise all across Warrington there are people running businesses in their own backyards.
“There's a lot of talent in Warrington.”
Seven episodes of the podcast have been released so far, each with a different person from Warrington telling their story.
Mark doesn't just interview the people who appear on his podcast, he feels he learns something from each and every one of them.
“Whether you're an athlete, a nutritionist or someone who runs a pet store, there's one common theme: they all have to be really committed and focused on one thing,” he said.
“Without passion and focus, your business will never succeed.”
Mark hopes to continue building a platform for small businesses, supporting their success stories and helping people both in and outside the town discover Warrington’s talent.
“We hope it will be a really vibrant and supportive voice for talented people in Warrington,” he said.
“Maybe the Local Heroes podcast will introduce you to a trusted gym that has been on the podcast before.
“I hope it will raise the profile of Warrington nationally.”
New episodes are recorded every Tuesday, and anyone interested in being on the podcast can send a message to the Local Heroes account on Instagram or email mark@liberalisx.com.
