Karen P, founder and CEO of Folded Wing, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Leeds Trinity University.
The award was given for “outstanding achievement in media production, enterprise and ongoing fantastic support to Leeds Trinity.”
Karen studied Media and Business Management and chose this course because it gave her work experience and allowed her to work during summer holidays. During university she did an apprenticeship with Virgin Records and then the BBC.
The honorary award to graduating students recognises outstanding achievement and Karen joins a community of 40 Honorary Fellows including BAFTA-winning journalist Mobeen Azhar, Radio 2 presenter Richie Anderson, Capital Radio's Lauren Layfield and Yard Act bassist Ryan Needham.
Karen said: “I am incredibly proud to receive this honour and show others from different backgrounds and perspectives that it is possible to follow your dreams and succeed on your own terms and in your own way. I am incredibly grateful to Leeds Trinity for their support and recognition of this.”
Leeds Trinity University began awarding Honorary Fellows in 2017 as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations to recognise outstanding achievement in areas related to the University's work and values. The awards ceremony will be held in Leeds Civic Hall on 17 July.
In 2022, Karen was awarded a fellowship by the Radio Academy.
