The News Agents, the global chart-topping podcast hosted by Emily Maitlis, Jon Sopel and Louis Goodall, has surpassed 100 million downloads.
This milestone comes on the heels of podcast coverage of the general election, which resulted in a 45% increase in podcast downloads.
The newsagents have interviewed some of the biggest names in news and current affairs, including Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt, Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey, Deputy First Minister Angela Rayner, outgoing Welsh First Minister Vaughan Gething, former Scottish Foreign Secretary Nicola Sturgeon, former Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair, Senators Marjorie Taylor Green and Bernie Sanders.
Winner of Best Daily Podcast at the 2023 UK Podcast Awards, the newsagent has also reported on the human trafficking crisis from Calais, the Georgia protests from Tbilisi, the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, a Donald Trump rally at Mar-a-Lago, the French elections in Paris and the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Vicky Etchells, head of news and fact podcasts at Global, said: “We’re delighted to congratulate The News Agents on reaching the huge milestone of 100 million downloads.
“It's hard to believe the podcast is only two years old and has quickly established itself as an essential part of the UK news media landscape.
This brilliant success is a testament to Emily, John and Lewis' unparalleled ability to provide listeners with great reporting and analysis, as well as their warmth and connection with our loyal listeners, and the extraordinary talent of Global's world-class podcast production team, led by Editor Tom Hughes. Here's to the next 100 million!”
