Two of the animation world's top producers, Fred Seibert and Kevin Corde, are opening a new podcast studio, The Bellport Theater On The Air.
The new studio will focus on developing, producing and releasing the highest quality content, with a focus on supernatural thriller programming.
Joining Seibert and Korde are longtime collaborators business executive Brian Gucciardo and studio production veteran Diane Korde.
The first series, supernatural thriller The Department of Midnight, will premiere on August 20. Created by best-selling author and comic book creator Warren Ellis, the series features an all-star voice cast including James Callis, Alicia Witt and Carla Gugino.
It's a dramatic six-part mystery that blends science fiction, folklore and horror. In addition to releasing The Department of Midnight, the studio is actively developing three other series that will be announced in the coming months.
While the podcast industry and audio-focused studios have faced some challenges recently, Seibert and Korde, who originally started their careers in radio, believe there is a big opportunity for compelling scripted content produced by established and up-and-coming talent.
“I'm used to tackling the challenges facing the entertainment industry, but the launch of Bellport Theatre on the Air allows me to easily enter a space with great growth potential, not only helping creators bring their stories closer to home, but also giving audiences what they want – compelling new audio content,” Seibert said.
Korde added, “I strongly believe that there are so many incredible storytellers out there whose creativity and voices need to be heard. There are so many amazing projects in development right now and I'm thrilled to be diving into the audio space. I look forward to bringing you new characters and worlds for listeners to enjoy.”
Each Bellport Theatre On The Air podcast will have its own dedicated website and will also be distributed on all major podcast apps and platforms.
