Submissions for the Independent Podcast Awards are now closed, with almost 450 submissions received, 22% more than last year.
The awards were launched in 2023 to recognise outstanding talent in the independent podcasting community. The awards are open to podcasters in the UK and Ireland who are not backed by a big brand or corporate backing.
Launched by whynow Media and indie podcast Verbal Diorama, the awards are supported by a number of industry partners.
Supporters of the 2024 event are Acast, Adelicious, Advertising Week Europe, AudioUK, Captivate, Podknows Podcasting, Rusty Quill and Spotify. Media partners are Pod Bible, Podcasting Seriously and Podnews and venue partner is Kings Place.
In addition to supporting the event, many partners support winners with additional resources.
Neal Veglio of Podknows Podcasting will be offering a free group audit session with the winners from each category in November. This is a service Neal has offered to his clients for many years, and each of them has found it extremely helpful in growing their listenership.
Neil said: “I am thrilled to be working with the Independent Podcast Awards and its winners. I have worked with podcasters of all sizes for many years and have helped many of them improve the quality and audiences of their shows.”
“By auditing the winners' shows, we hope to help them take their podcasts to the next level.”
Acast, Adelicious and Captivate will offer free hosting to the winner, AudioUK will gift a Creator membership to their organisation and Rusty Quill will offer the fiction winner free advertising on their network.
The Independent Podcast Awards are currently under review, with finalists expected to be announced in early September.
