Sport Social has signed new podcast partnerships with three football clubs: Stoke City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa.
This comes as more rights holders look to use podcasting to give loyal fans exclusive, in-depth access to their favorite teams, players and sports.
Launched at the start of August, Potters' Pod: The Official Stoke City Podcast is the first of the new podcasts to join the network.
Hosted by TV presenter and nationally renowned content creator Rob Adcock, the podcast will offer fans exclusive extended interviews with first-team players, revealing more of their personalities than ever before and letting them tell their own stories. The first episode features recent signing Viktor Johansson and co-host former Stoke City striker Chris Iwelumo.
Sport Social has also strengthened its existing relationship with Wolverhampton Wanderers, where it already supports the club through the production of short-form news updates, “Wolves Express”.
Now, the station is working closely with host, match day commentator and fan favourite Mikey Burrows to relaunch Wolves Weekly as the newly relaunched The Official Wolves Podcast.
The show, which launched on August 15, provides fans with in-depth discussions and debates about the team.
The new partnership with Aston Villa will include the Official Aston Villa Podcast, which is due to launch on 5 September.
Hosted by Alan McInally and Kate Treacy, the show will feature special guests including star players, coaches and club legends, and in the premiere episode club captain John McGinn will react to the Villains' first ever Champions League draw.
Thomas Holdcroft, head of marketing and communications at Stoke City FC, said: “The launch of Potters Pod is an integral part of our commitment to elevating the content offering that our supporters can be proud of and enjoy.”
“We are working very actively with our sports social team to create shows that tell the true stories of famous Potter players and allow fans to get to know the people behind the players with each episode.”
Jim Salveson, sporting director at SportsSocial, added: “We're delighted to be joining forces with Stoke City and Aston Villa and expanding our work with Wolves.”
“All three clubs understand the potential of podcasting to create that vital connection with their fans and provide them with the content they want.
“It's fantastic to be working with them to make the most of these opportunities and create engaging, compelling content that will resonate deeply with audiences. I look forward to watching the show grow over the coming weeks.”
