New true crime documentary podcast, The Pitcairn Trial, is a chilling investigation into one of the darkest stories in British history.
Hosted by British journalist Luke Jones, the series delves into the tragic history of sexual abuse that has been going on for decades on Pitcairn, a remote British territory – a windswept volcanic island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, home to just 50 people.
“The Pitcairn Trials” explores the heartbreaking stories of generations of women and girls who grew up on this isolated island.
Luke Jones exposes the culture that normalized exploitation and abuse, and the long journey to justice. Survivors tell Luke their stories for the first time.
The series asks what happens in a community when those in power believe they can act with impunity, confident that no one is watching.
This podcast shines a light on the dark reality of this isolated island community: revealing the resilience of victims, the systemic flaws that allowed the abuse to continue, and the difficulty of finally bringing these horrific cases to justice.
Produced by Audio Always, “The Pitcairn Trials” is available to watch on the Wondery+ app.
Wondery+ members will have exclusive early access to all episodes starting September 18. Non-subscribers can join Wondery+ and start their free trial via the Wondery app, Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
