Ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Dr Stacey Wentworth has launched a new podcast called Less Radical.
The six-part series tells the story of an unlikely hero from Pittsburgh, Dr. Fisher, who overcame the barriers of anti-Semitism to get into medical school and make revolutionary advances in cancer treatment. But his success came at a tragic price: public, performative congressional hearings that unfairly tarnished his reputation and haunted him until his death.
Host Dr. Wentworth takes listeners into operating rooms, the halls of Congress and the laboratory to explore Fisher's profound impact on breast cancer patients around the world.
“Less Radical” comes at a time when the stories behind medical advances need to be shared and understood. Dr. Fisher's legacy is a reminder of the scientific courage and personal sacrifice made to improve cancer care. His story will resonate with survivors, patients, families, and medical professionals.”
Dr. Stacey Wentworth is an award-winning physician, author, and cancer survivor advocate. She has worked in private practice and academic medical institutions as a radiation oncologist and member of a cancer center leadership team.
She has also built survivorship programs in highly diverse settings, from small rural hospitals to NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers.
“If you or someone you know has had breast cancer,” says Dr. Wentworth, “Barney is part of your story and you are part of his story.”
Less Radical launches today, Wednesday September 25th.
