This podcast explores the theme of dementia and documents Harriet Thomas' 900-mile journey from Land's End to John O'Groats as she aims to raise £25,000 for Dementia Adventures. She is now over half of her goal.
The podcast captures the ups and downs of Harriet's 90-day walk to John O'Groats, chats with celebrities such as singing legend Tony Christie living with dementia, and talks to experts in the dementia field. It also includes interviews and stories of resilience and hope from people. affected by the state.
Harriet also chooses the music that accompanies each episode, with the latest installment featuring Ella Roberts' Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond, which celebrates Harriet's arrival in Scotland.
Harriet said: “We had high goals when we launched D Tour, but it has exceeded all expectations and we are truly amazed.
“Through our wanderlust stories about travel and all the wonderful people we’ve met along the way, we’ve tried to encourage our listeners to embrace the moment and find joy in simple pleasures.
“It was also our aim to challenge perceptions around dementia and encourage listeners to donate to the wonderful charity Dementia Adventure. It’s heartwarming to see The D Tour tick all these boxes. is.
“This walk was in honor of my mother, Susan, who lived with dementia for nine years. She loved nature. Even she loved the power of the senses of nature: the temperature of the air, the wind passing through her hair and nostrils, the scent, the color of flowers, all of which awakened something in her.
“That’s one of the reasons we’re raising money for Dementia Adventure, which provides outdoor holiday support for families living with dementia.”
Dementia Adventure has secured a streaming partnership with the Music for Dementia campaign, which hosts m4dRadio.com, a free online streaming platform that plays 10 years of select music for people living with dementia.
m4dRadio.com streams The D Tour podcast weekly through its platform. This is the first audio-based program broadcast by the company.
