The nominations for Audible's The Audio Production Awards, which will be held at a gala evening at the BFI on London's South Bank on November 20th, have been revealed.
Organized by AudioUK, the awards celebrate outstanding achievements in audio production across a wide range of audio content including podcasts, audiobooks, sound design, radio, presentations and more.
Nominees in the Audible-sponsored Production Company of the Year category include Almost Tangible, Blanchard House, Novel, Overcoat Media, Unedited, and Whistledown Productions.
Charlotte Mellen, Ed Morrish, John Holmes, Leonie Thomas, Meera Kumar and Talia Augustidis took home the top award in the Podcast Show's Producer of the Year category.
Candidates in the Presenter/Host and New Voice categories include newcomer Daisy, whose story will be told on RAW for the Audible podcast “The Second Victim: Daisy’s Story.” Jake Sears appeared on the Queer the Music podcast, Dan Snow appeared on History Hits and Craig Charles appeared on BBC Radio 6 Music's show.
This year, AudioUK will be awarding the Best Presenter/Host award in honor of David Knowles, the presenter of the podcast Ukraine: Latest, who sadly passed away in September this year.
Brighton-based Carousel Radio, which brings the voices of people with learning disabilities to radio, is hosted by Morley Radio, alongside innovative work on cough by the Prison Radio Society and the University of Manchester and Imperial College London. It is just one of the nominees for the Grassroots Production Award.
Meanwhile, Jassa Ahluwalia and Deborah Ayorinde are nominated for Best Narrator, while William Hanson and Jordan North, Sayyida Warsi and David Baddiel, and Nish Kumar and Koko Khan are nominated for Best Ensemble Cast. These are just a few of them.
Chloe Straw, Managing Director of AudioUK, said:
“AudioUK's Audio Production Awards shines a spotlight on the producers behind some of the world's most creative and meticulously produced stories and shows, and celebrates talent in a way no other awards ceremony can. And of course, there's still an opportunity to celebrate those in front of the microphone in the fiercely competitive Presenter and Narrator categories.
“Congratulations to all the nominees and thank you to all the judges who shared their time and expertise to judge these awards.
“Thank you to our Audio Production Awards team, Katie Banham and Naomi Oike. There would be no awards without them, so be sure to treat them to a drink at the awards ceremony.”
We would like to thank our head judge, Megan Bradshaw, for her wise guidance and words. We would like to thank EDI consultant Yassine Senghor for providing unconscious bias training and guidance as part of the review process. And thanks to the steering team, Kelly Whyle and Leona Fensom.
“Thanks to the support of our major sponsor Audible, we are able to present awards and celebrate the people who make the audio industry what it is every year.
“We would like to thank our Pay What You Can Scheme partners Amazon Music and Wondery. If you are unable to access the benefit for financial reasons, please contact us for free or discounted tickets. And with our category sponsors, Thanks to BBC Sounds, Everyone Media, Great Big Story, Morley Radio, Sue Terry Voices, The Podcast Show and our drinks reception sponsor BetterHelp.
Megan Bradshaw, head of podcasts for Amazon Music Europe, Australia and New Zealand and chair of the jury, added: We asked our judges to consider this year's brightest talent in the context of the culture we operate in and the diverse audiences we as an industry hope to serve (and reflect). Masu.
“A huge congratulations to all the nominees and we’ll see you on November 20th at one of London’s iconic arts venues, the BFI.”
