Ahead of Season 11, climate podcast Outrage + Optimism is relaunching with the hire of Persephonica to help drive the show's success.
The new series, hosted by former United Nations climate change chief Christiana Figueres, political strategist Tom Rivet-Karnac, and business consultant Paul Dickinson, features President Trump's U.S. inauguration and world events. Topics will be covered from the changing dynamics of climate politics to exclusive behind-the-scenes and on-stage conversations. Address all significant climate changes in 2025.
Christiana Figueres said: “This is a climate change podcast for people who don't want to give up on creating a better world. 2025 is the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement and also the middle of the 'Most Definitive Decade.'
“With anger and optimism, we admit that we are far behind where we need to be to reach our 2030 goals. At the same time, we are increasing the speed and scale of so many activities. We're also seeing evidence that there are solutions available that could help us reach our 2030 goals if we understand what the exponential concept is.”
The episode begins with an analysis that looks ahead to 2025, including the Copernicus report on global carbon emissions and a review of the decade since the Paris climate agreement, which Christiana, in her role as negotiation secretary, announced.
The reboot included revamped art, music, and a new focus on video. The aim is to bring the climate change conversation to a wider audience through exclusive interviews with the world's top thinkers and decision makers.
It also includes a new series exploring what happens when multilateralism is challenged, and conversations about alternatives for change.
Dino Sofos, CEO of Persephonica, said: Persephonica prides itself on taking listeners to the heart of the biggest news stories. And there is no bigger news than climate change.
“With the help of Christiana, Tom and Paul, some of the most knowledgeable and influential hosts, we take listeners behind the scenes of the politics of the climate crisis. This podcast is about what's really happening. A must-listen for anyone who wants to understand how decisions are made that affect us all.”
Season 11 of Outrage + Optimism: The Climate Podcast launches tomorrow, January 16th, on all major podcast platforms.
