Michael Urier and Becky Newton are launching an ugly Betty Rewatch video podcast called Still Ugly, with cameras on and off cameras on and off cameras.
It's been 18 years since we were first introduced to the Ugly Betty cast, and Michael and Becky have found individual success ever since.
Starting with episodes of the pilot, Urry and Newton watch each episode of Ugh Betty, analyzing the storyline and character motives, selecting top looks, and highlighting emotional moments.
Guests, including American Ferrera, Eric Mabius, Tony Plana, Christopher Gorham, and others, will be taking part in the podcast to share memories of the show. The podcast also features episode-inspired games and fan segments, featuring games where the duo listen to fan confessions, answer questions and give advice.
When asked why they decided to do this podcast now, Newton states: Well, the world needs a little joy and the world still loves this show.
“One of the things people answered about our characters is that everyone needs friends. People who don't judge them. Everyone needs a part of it. Make friends laugh all the time, It always makes you feel loved.”
Urry also feels he and Newton have a special connection to the show, explaining: And the show is about fish that come out of the water.
“It was all very meta – the show and us…but we were so young and fresh, and these incredible mentors who knew we would tell us this to , there was Vanessa (Williams) and then Judith (Light). It's something special, open your eyes and don't take it for granted. We've become a chosen family as a cast. Ta.”
