Award-winning journalist and producer Kate Mishkin has been working on podcasts, Shofar, So Good! has been launched.
The series follows her efforts to reunite with her Jewish heritage. Created through the Jewish Writers Initiative Fellowship and supported by the Maimonides Fund, the five-episode series explores the universal issues of faith, belonging and community.
“This podcast is my way of reconnecting with the traditions that have shaped my family for generations, navigating the complexities of modern spirituality,” Mishkin said. “Listeners want to create a space where listeners can reflect on their beliefs and sense of belonging, regardless of their background.”
Although her family has deep Jewish roots, Mishkin grew up in the Los Angeles area without a strong cultural or religious foundation.
In the podcast, she searches for answers to questions that she never comfortably asks about faith, belonging, and the nature of Judaism. Through conversations with rabbis, relatives and even children immersed in Jewish learning, the series tackles universal topics such as doubt, forgiveness and exploration of meaning.
