The second season of Start of Start will feature a podcast from the Royal School of Music School related boards.
Hosted by pianist, composer and producer Alexis Fufench, the show explores a variety of musical genres each week with special guests and famous artists who share their love and recommendations about where you start your musical journey each week.
The conversation breaks down the cultural phenomenon of composer Robin Beanland and DJ Flava D, from the beauty and emotion of traditional genres such as opera with award-winning tenor Freddie de Tomaso to the music behind video games like Pac-Man, Tetris and Super Mario Bros.
Speaking about his love for drill music, author and columnist Ciaran Thapar said:
“Drills came from an age where we are so dependent on us as humans on the Internet, and hearing it helps us understand the time we live, for better or worse.”
Other genres and guests of the new series include Jude Rogers in Folk and Sweet Pea on Drum & Bass. Previous episodes feature deep dives into genres such as Grime, Classical, Afrobeats, K-Pop, Bhangra, and Hip-Hop.
Series 2, which began here, will be released today, Wednesday, February 26th. Getting a podcast will release new episodes every week
