The new BBC Radio 4 Health and Wellbeing Podcast is launched by the same twins as the doctor, Chris and Xand Van Tulleken.
What is the UP docs? It airs on Radio 4 every Tuesday at 4:30pm and airs on BBC Sound. The show's bonus content is also available in the BBC Sound's additional “Doctor” Notes” episode.
Dr. Chris and Xand van Tulleken explore how they grasp what is really good for us and are supposed to apply it well to our lives. When they marvel at a scientific breakthrough, they tackle competing claims about health, happiness, and how to live their best life.
The topics range from understanding testosterone replacements to dietary microplastics, from the concept of “willpower” to blood sugar control, the podcast addresses the questions we all have about our daily health, looking at how businesses and governments can affect our well-being.
Each episode, this pair is joined by expert guests, helping you explore the latest research, psychological insights and data and navigate the overwhelming amount of information and advice you find there.
Dr. Chris Van Tourken said:
“How can I stay healthy, eat well, and become a better parent, son, or husband while still being calm? And since we are the same twins, are we always genetic my problems? Or is it my fault?
Dr. Xand Van Tulleken adds:
“We want to live a healthy and happy life. As doctors who care deeply about public health, we want this from everyone. But it's the best way to get there, discussing where to put your money, time and energy, and the best that can be achieved, collectively and personally.”
Commissioner Rhian Roberts, BBC Podcast & Formats, commented:
“We hope that our work-life balance is also crazy. Have you promised What'sUp Docs? The podcast offers all of that, but we've tried it out and enjoyed it.
“Dr. Chris and Xand sift through science, working for them and sharing what doesn't work.
What is the UP docs? Dr. Chris and Xand will begin on Radio 4, with the BBC sounding on Tuesday, March 25th at 4:30pm.
