Audacy and Double Elvis have launched Hollywoodland, a weekly show created and hosted by award-winning podcaster Jake Brennan.
The series explores the lives of famous actors and filmmakers through the true crime that have had the most influential. This is the second entry in the expanded franchise of Brennan's Gripping series about the dark side of entertainment history, and is based on the success of his acclaimed music podcast, Disgraceland.
Hollywoodland features a wide range of stars and stories, including David Lynch and the brutal, real-life murders that influenced Twin Peaks. Steve McQueen brush with Charles Manson. The plot surrounding Marilyn Monroe's death. John Waters' indecent arrest. Dennis Hopper's easy riding and excessive 70's Hollywood. The father's connection to Woody Harrelson's assassination of JFK. Chris Farley burns out quickly. Armed robbery by Al Pacino. Serial Killer and Gianni Versace. And overdose of Heath Ledger.
There are both all-new and archival episodes, including new commentary and context for Brennan.
“Hollywoodland is a natural extension of Disgraceland's success,” Jake Brennan said. “Hollywood history and musical history are often the same, and these wild, true crime stories in Tinseltown are asked to be told in the same fascinating, edge-of-seat storytelling.
Leah Reis-Dennis, VP, Audacy, Podcast Content Strategy and Business Development, added:
“We are excited to expand our slate with him at the launch of Hollywoodland. Listeners are on the snacks.”
A new episode of Hollywoodland will be released on all podcast platforms every Monday.
