The Internal Counterterrorism Podcast highlights the work women are doing to keep women safe from terrorism and protect UK national security.
For security reasons, most counterterrorism police officers and staff are unable to speak in detail about their work. This is the first time someone working on the frontline has spoken in this format.
Hosted by Amy, media director of counterterrorism policing, the show brings listeners behind the scenes to reveal the untold story of working in counterterrorism.
The podcasts do not do what is possible and talk about what is usually not publicly discussed. For safety, the woman's name has been changed. But the voice is real. Listeners will hear directly from women who do these jobs.
Over five episodes listen to women who counter intelligence, investigation, forensic medicine, extreme right-wing terrorism and human intelligence.
When they talk about their professional journey and why they worked on policing, they openly discuss the reality of their work.
Best interest: “That decision about when to arrest – a day too early, a day too late – it could be on the wire.”
And the best part of the job: “It's absolutely fascinating…it's made me a better person.”
Episodes already released include:
