IheartPodcasts and New Audio are expanding on The Girlfriends Franchise, which was extremely successful with the launch of their girlfriends: Spotlight.
The new installments feature eight episodes that explore immeasurable accounts of women caught up in a web of crime, survival and justice.
Hosted by award-winning journalist Anna Singfield, this new anthology series highlights a complex true story that draws attention to issues surrounding domestic violence, survivor empowerment and the pursuit of justice.
The episode tells you from notable figures, including Tracy Otto, a victim of domestic violence who competed at the 2024 Paralympics, and Lu Ann Cooper, who survived the infamous polygamous cult of Utah.
“We are excited to expand our girlfriend franchise to provide a platform for telling important stories, including new seasons,” said Will Pearson, president of IheartPodcasts. “In the spotlight, we're going even further by taking this story further, giving a voice to a new perspective that stimulates inspiration and thought.”
The upcoming season of Sinfield's girlfriend hosted by him follows the story of Kelly Harnett, a domestic abuse survivor convicted of murder. The new season is scheduled to begin later this year, followed by more spotlight episodes and future seasons.
“We're looking forward to seeing you in the future,” said Craig Strachan, CEO of Novel Audio.
“The brand new spotlight series, which follows a season of new stories, is built on the reach and influence of girlfriends, allowing audiences to discover a whole new world of engaging, emotional and exciting stories.
“We introduced the new host Anna Singfield, who has been at the heart of the production team since its launch, met a notable woman and won in the face of adversity. Her girlfriend has become more than a podcast and has become a move.”
Girlfriend: Spotlight will be released on April 7th with new episodes available on Monday on all podcast platforms.
