The gay UK LGBTQ+ podcast won its first victory at a major international awards ceremony at the 2025 Webby Awards in New York City.
The podcast, hosted by comedians James Barr and Dan Hudson, picked up the People's Voice trophy in the Best Independent Podcast category.
The 29th Annual Webby Awards celebrated the biggest internet personalities, visionaries and activists of the year at a star-studded ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street. The awards show was hosted by award-winning comedian, actor, supporter and creator Ilana Glazer.
This year, there have been around 13,000 entries from all 50 US states and more than 70 countries around the world.
Webby Awards executive director Jesse Feister celebrated his first Webby Awards in this new role, but made his remarks reflecting the chaotic state of the internet in 2025, the importance of recognizing homemade creators, and moments that are important for AI and creativity.
“My favorite thing about the internet is to give talented, homemade, creative people a way, and the winner tonight is proof of that,” Jesse puts a new emphasis on creators.
Released in 2015, Gays and Non-Gays quickly became essential listening to LGBTQ+ people and their friends.
Meanwhile, they appeared on the front cover of Attitude Magazine, releasing the acclaimed BBC TV documentary Sashay to Hell, and launched their own brand of LGBTQIPA beer, which raises money for trans charity mermaids.
Recent guests include Musical Six creators, actors Elliot Page, Jamie Dornan, Tiakofi and Eurovision winner Nemo.
James and Dan said: “We don't agree much, but one thing we can agree on is how pleased we are to win a Webby Award. This is absolutely huge.”
