One of the most famous nights in British audio, Radio Academy Arias took place last night at a new venue in Leicester Square.
Clara Amfo and Gok Wan Mbe held an event at Odeon Luxe. There, 23 awards were announced, including the highly anticipated new category, the UK Audio Brand of the Year.
This year's ceremony attracted an impressive list of guest lists from the world of radio, podcasting and music, including Greg James, Angela Canlon, David Orthoga, Nick Grimshaw, Jane Moore, Janet Street Porter, Harriet Rose, Trevor Nelson, Melvin Odome, Danny Beard, Ken Bruce, and Molly King. Additionally, duo Dick and Dom hosted the red carpet and interviewed each winner as they stepped behind the scenes.
One of the biggest moments in the evening was when Gary Rinker's production company Goalhanger won a gold medal in the new British Audio Brand of the Year award category announced by Trevor Nelson MBE.
Tony Pastor – Co-founder Goalhanger said: “Three years ago, the Goalhanger was made up of six people on a coffee shop in south London.
“It's amazing to think we enjoyed a billion downloads this month. This success is three things: a great production team that really loves the show they're working on. The hosts who are also great communicators of their subjects, and the audience are still proven they have a rich appetite in a long form, artistic way.”
