Times and Sunday Times is launching a major new podcast on the complexities of geopolitics in an era of uncertainty.
Generals and journalists see why the war begins, how they end, and the diplomacy, politics and human stories unfold along the way.
Hosted by former British Army Chief General Patrick Sanders and award-winning journalist Tom Newton Dunn, they offer a unique perspective on global conflict.
They explore the complexities of modern diplomacy and explore the arguments and agreements that shape current conflicts.
Each week they focus on different themes, countries, or conflicts, such as Ukraine, Iran, Gaza, or Sudan. And they look at this against President Donald Trump's ambitions and a larger historical picture.
The best way to prevent human stories, war outcomes, and conflicts will also be characterized by Patrick and Tom joining guests to discuss political, diplomacy, humanitarian and military issues.
Sir Patrick Sanders said: “We are at the end of the old days. The world order that gave us relative security for 80 years has fallen apart, and we still don't know what will come next.
“The sad thing we already know is that it means more conflict. I think we are hunger to understand more polarised and dangerous worlds than ever before.
Tom Newton Dunn added: “We'll talk about why the war begins, how they won, what they lost. In both the current war and the threat of a new war, we need to discuss things to worry about, and we also need to worry about unlocking the difference between a hot war and a hot air.
“I'm really looking forward to doing a podcast with Patrick. We've been good friends for nearly 20 years since we first met in Basra (we both had full hair).”
The first episode of General and Journalists will begin on Thursday, May 22nd, even with the Podcast and Times YouTube channel.
