BBC Studios and Netflix have launched their new comedy podcast with Jimmy Carr, The Big Pitch.
In each episode, guest comedians must invent and market film ideas based on one of the more obscure subgenres, from Netflix's “1970s crime films” to “dysfunctional family comedy starring a powerful female lead.” Kerr plays the host in a final statement about whether each pitch gets a green light or is rejected.
The podcast features contributions from well-known comedians such as Romesh Langanathan, Phil Wang, Nick Mohammed, Duck Shah, Kelly Godliman, Michelle Wolf, Chris McAussland, London Hughes, Asim Choudhry and Jamali Maddix.
Jimmy Kerr said: “I'm a stand-up comedian, but I do the right job in real show business during the day. I'm commissioning movies for Netflix!
“This podcast gives you a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the rigorous pitching process, and it's also a good excuse to ruin either with a very interesting friend.”
The big pitch with Jimmy Kerr will be released worldwide today, Wednesday, May 28th. All episodes will be fully visualized and available on Netflix, a YouTube channel and an audio version will be available on all podcast platforms.
