Spotify has rolled out major updates to its mobile apps, showing new podcast discovery and engagement features aimed at both listeners and creators.
This update brings you a more personalized home feed experience with tailored recommendations for audio and video podcasts displayed just below the user's shortcuts.
Some suggestions include notes on why it is recommended as Spotify reports early signs of an increase in user engagement.
It also introduces a new follow feed to help users track their favorite shows. All the latest episodes of the Follow Podcast are concentrated within a dedicated feed in the podcast section of your home. Spotify says this is designed to reduce friction for users who want to stay up to date.
For creators, the platform allows the episode page to include a “This Episode” section that directly links to related content such as songs, audiobooks, playlists, and other podcasts. It aims to provide more depth and context for the audience.
Spotify also has an improved commenting feature. Threads and emoji reactions have been added to allow for more detailed conversations.
According to Spotify, listeners who comment or respond will consume twice as many episodes as they do not. Creators can manage features by choosing to opt out at the show or episode level via Spotify.
These global updates are available on iOS and Android and form part of Spotify's broader strategy to make Podcast Discovery more personal.
The platform says it wants the experience of finding new podcasts that make you want to receive recommendations from friends.
