Former professional soccer player Adebayo Akinfenwa has launched a new podcast with football media company Footballco.
In Beast Mode, hearing is caused by players who have overcome major obstacles despite their career odds.
The first episode features Watford FC's legendary Troy Deeney. He discusses his career, his troubled childhood, and his relationship with his father, who died just days before Deeney began his 10-month prison term.
The next episode features West Ham star Michale Antonio. Future guests are set to share an equally strong narrative of resilience and determination in football.
The theme of the series is rooted in the challenges Akinfenwa has faced throughout his career. This includes being labeled “too big” to play professionally.
On sale today, July 3rd, Beast Mode On is distributed to the new Beast Mode on the podcast platform and YouTube channel, where additional clips and episodes are shared on Akinfenwa's social channels and Footballco's target brand platform.
Footballco's goals have a history of creating player-driven video content, including Goal's Front 3 YouTube series, which has seen more than 1.5 billion views over the past 12 months.
Content Footballco VP Xavi Sanchez said Bayo's “a bigger personality than life makes him a charismatic host,” but also understood “the mental challenges faced by players at every level of the game.”
Akinfenwa said: “I am extremely excited to team up with Footballco on this venture, and like me, my guests face many challenges in their careers.
