The Roundhouse has announced a new expansion partnership with Spotify as the performing arts venue aims to engage more young people each year.
This comes as the venue unveils a major milestone in reaching more than 10,000 young people in a year.
To celebrate, the exterior of the iconic building has been decorated with a bespoke design featuring the names of over 10,226 drawings and inspirational quotes submitted by young people.
Opening in 2006 and immediately providing a professional and creative environment for young people, the total number of people at the Roundhouse now stands at over 80,000, which is more than the entire population of 11-30 year olds in Camden.
As Roundhouse looks to the future and works with more young people each year, we are proud to be a Principal Partner of Creative Studio Membership, which provides cutting-edge spaces and programming for musicians, filmmakers, podcasters, and performers. Announced Spotify.
The expanded partnership will enable Roundhouse to drive change within and beyond the music industry by providing a direct pathway into the industry across its service offerings.
Talia Augustidis, award-winning producer and member of Transmission Roundhouse, Roundhouse's social engagement podcast platform, said: You feel it as soon as you walk into the creative studio and hear all the drumming, singing, and DJing blending together in this messy, creative mix that fills the hallway. It's just electricity.
“On a personal level, my career began at the Roundhouse. I made friends, met collaborators, got work, and built a portfolio, all with their help, especially I'm so grateful to them for providing a space for young creators at a time when it feels like the arts world isn't being supported enough.”
Jesley Faye Fantorgo, Spotify Editorial Coordinator and Roundhouse alumnus, said:
“I'm now a Spotify employee, and after coming through the Spotify Internship Program, which I discovered through the Roundhouse and Spotify partnership, it's great to work for an organization so deeply involved in developing the next generation of talent.”
Marcus Davey, CEO and Artistic Director of Roundhouse, said:
“Our historic achievement of engaging more than 10,000 young people for the first time in just one year not only highlights our commitment to developing the next generation of creators, but also provides a broad range of support for local communities and the wider creative industry. It means to have an impact.
“As we continue to expand our reach and influence, it’s great and incredibly important to have Spotify’s growing support.
“Partnerships like this will enable us to support more young people than ever before. We are now ambitious about what we can achieve in the coming years, for the benefit of both young people and the creative sector.” I’m really looking forward to it.”
