Arts Educators Save the World returns with new episodes featuring conversations with successful artists and mentors.
Previous guests include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Cecily Strong, Josh Radnor, Chelsea Devantes and Bradley Whitford. The show, which is transitioning from a seasonal show to an always-on show, begins with Grammy Award-winning actor and singer Jonathan Groff and his mentor and elementary school music teacher Linda Tough.
Jonathan and Linda's conversation is a testament to the power of early education and hard work, and a celebration of joy and imagination through music. They recall the early plays they played together, the magic of their love of learning, and the many techniques Jonathan learned in Tuff's class decades ago and still uses today.
“Teaching life is not a requirement of your job. It was your choice. It was what you brought to that room and to all of our lives. It changed our lives and… It changes the world, it changes us as a society,” says Tough’s Groff.
Host Erika Rosenfeld Halverson brings her passion for the arts and lifelong impact arts education to her podcast and her own teachings.
She is a professor of curriculum and instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and author of How the Arts Can Save Education: Transforming Teaching, Learning, and Instruction, and the author of Art.
Erica said: “I'm excited to have this platform to share the story of why arts education is so important to our educational environment. All of these artists and educators are inspired to make art together. It reminds us of what makes us human.”
Arts Educators Save the World will be available on all podcast platforms starting November 14th.
