From BBC Radio 3, The Music The Music is a new podcast, offering a fresh perspective on the real stories of classical music's most established composers.
The Ten-Episode series hears famous narrators who have discovered the human frailty, obsessions and vulnerabilities of various composers, including Michael Sheen, Toby Jones, Dominic West, and Maxine Peake.
These include Ludwig Van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ethel Smyth listening to some of the music written during life.
Each 30-minute episode gives insight into everything from the horrors of heartache to the pursuit of joy to understand these composers on a more relevant human level. Additional contributions are also provided by a variety of professional creatives and psychologists.
The story is brought to life by famous actors, and invites a greater understanding of the hopes of the composers, their struggles, and the music they composed.
