Shannen Doherty was set to reminisce about her time playing Prue Halliwell on Charmed as co-host of a rewatch podcast that she signed up for just days before her tragic death.
Shannen Doherty was set to reprise her role as Prue Halliwell on “Charmed” shortly before losing her battle with cancer.
It was revealed that The House of Halliwell: A Charmed Rewatch Podcast would be joining the iHeartPodcast network, where Shannen will co-host, on Monday, July 8. The first episode of the podcast was released on Monday.
“Get ready to be enchanted as the original cast of 'Charmed' welcomes you to the 'House of Halliwell' podcast. Join Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Drew Fuller and Brian Krause as they rewatch the show with you and relive the magical world one episode at a time!” the press release read.
The article continues, “Did they love the Witches storyline? What really went on behind the scenes of this cult-favorite show? From supernatural powers to special effects, the cast guides us through one of the most talked-about sets in TV history. Fighting the forces of evil isn't always easy, but Prue and Piper make it look a lot of fun!”
The news comes after Alyssa Milano paid tribute to her Charmed co-star Shanann, despite their “complicated relationship.” It was well-known that there was rift between the two actresses during their time on the hit series, and Alyssa issued a statement upon hearing the news that Shanann had passed away after a battle with metastatic breast cancer. Alyssa offered her sympathies to Shanann's friends and family while noting their past differences.
She said: “It's no secret that Shanann and I had a complicated relationship, but underneath it all was someone I deeply respected and respected. She was a talented actress, loved by many and the world would not be the same without her. My condolences go out to all who loved her.”
“I'm so glad to hear that,” Alyssa told Us Weekly after it was announced that Shanann had sadly passed away at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer. After battling cancer for many years, the much-loved actress passed away surrounded by her loved ones on July 13. The sad news was confirmed today (July 14) by Shanann's publicist.
The statement read: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after a long battle. A devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend, she was surrounded by her loved ones and her beloved dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy to be respected so they can grieve in peace.”
Cast members of “Charmed” have repeatedly spoken out over the years about the struggles of working on the show and being colleagues. “Charmed” aired from 1998 to 2006 and garnered a devoted fanbase over the years, but it has also been plagued by rumors of conflict.
More recently, Shanann and Holly discussed the Beverly Hills 90210 star's departure from the show in fall 2023, implying that Alyssa had a hand in her departure. Holly recalled that at the time, she had a meeting with producers to find out why Shanann was no longer on the show.
