Radio presenter Matt Spracklen (aka Rock and Roll Birder) is back with a second series of his podcast.
In each episode of the new series of the Rock 'n Roll Birder podcast, Matt visits beautiful locations and nature reserves across the UK.
His wife, producer Sarah Spracklen, will be joined by expert guests including BBC Springwatch wildlife researcher Jack Badhams, John Carter from the British Ornithological Society, Naomi Johns from the Birds of Prey Project, James Cook (@WildlifeWithCookie) and Paul Bennett from RSPB Coombs Valley and Consult Woods.
Matt says: “Whether you're new to birding or a seasoned birder, there's something for everyone in this podcast. I love talking about birds, but I hope this podcast will inspire young people to become even more passionate about what they can do to protect and conserve wildlife and nature.”
Matt has loved birdwatching since he was a child and, after leading an active life in his twenties, touring with a punk band and working in the music industry, his interest in birdwatching and photography was rekindled in recent years.
During the 2020 lockdown, he rediscovered the mental health benefits of birdwatching when feeding birds in his garden became a relaxing pastime and pleasure.
Matt began taking photos of different bird species, cataloguing them and going on walks to see how many he could capture. It was during these walks that the Rock 'n Roll Birder podcast was born.
The first series featured 12 episodes recorded across the UK and in Sarah and Matt's home studio in Surrey.
Series two will see Matt visit RSPB Otto Moor in Oxfordshire, Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, the British Ornithological Society headquarters in Norfolk and various birdwatching spots in the Peak District and Lake District.
The new series of the Rock 'n Roll Birder podcast launches today, July 24th, and is available on all podcast platforms.
