Podcast Festival Cross Wiring is scheduled to return to Sheffield from July 4th to 6th, with no such thing as having sex with her boss and having a fish confirmed as the first headliner.
Last year's first festival saw over 12,000 people travel to Sheffield's city centre and see podcasters, DJ sets, Q&AS and fan events. Highlights include Katherine Ryan, Danny Robbins, Katie Price, Romesh Langanathan & Tom Davis, Adam Buxton, Self-Esteem and John Ronson.
Crossed Wires is founded by some of the most respected names in UK podcasting and live events, including Alice Levine (my father co-host who wrote porn and British scandals). Dino Sofos (founder and CEO of Persephonica) and James O'hara (co-founder, Tramlines and Day Fever).
Kicking off this year's headliner had sex with my boss hosted by etiquette expert William Hanson and DJ Jordan North.
Fan favorites will be on stage at Sheffield City Hall on Saturday, July 5th. The 2024 tour sold out 15,000 tickets in just three hours, making it the world's first podcast to be broadcast in cinemas.
Something like fish will not bring a live show to City Hall on Sunday, July 6th.
On their podcast, QI researchers Dan Schreiber, James Harkin, Anna Putasinski and Andrew Hunter Murray share the strangest and hilarious facts they have discovered. Since 2014, the podcast has scored 500 million listens.
This year, Crossed Wires' Festival Fringe is open to the public for free, but this year it's getting bigger. Details about the festival fringe will be announced soon.
The South Yorkshire Mayor's integrated agency will once again cross Wire's regional partners and host sponsors. Sheffield City Council awarded funds for its second year.
South Yorkshire mayor Oliver Copperd said: South Yorkshire and beyond, including myself, enjoyed an incredible lineup of famous podcasters and lively freefringes.
“The festival further highlighted South Yorkshire's reputation as a hub of innovation, arts and culture. We know that the creative industry is part of South Yorkshire's DNA. They drive our economy and makes South Yorkshire even more exciting living.”
Councillor Martin Smith, chairman of the Sheffield City Council's Community, Parks and Leisure Committee, added:
“The event was a huge success, boosting business for the city, bringing people from the UK and from the local venues since then.
“Sheffield is a city of culture, so this event is perfect for a calendar of already thriving culture and events. Literary festival “Off the Shelf”, documentary festival “Docfest”, and several groundbreaking events I will be participating in the music festival. With such a good company, the British flagship podcasting festival feels right to call us home. ”
Tickets are available from the Crossed Wires website starting Friday, February 14th.
