The Hit Radio Breakfast Show Presenter Fleur East hosts a special International Women's Day documentary available only on the Rayo app.
Fleur will talk with members of Franky Bridge on Saturday, executive producer Lydia Asy and food writer Melissa Helmsley about the challenges they faced as women and the impact they personally and professionally have had on them.
The documentary is a partnership with King's Trust Campaign Change A a Girl's Life. It aims to give young women in the UK a future to work.
In the conversation, Franky Bridge opens up about life on Saturdays, breaking down at age 21, and why society thinks she is at home, her husband is a hero.
Speaking about being on Saturday, she said:
“I reached a breakpoint just before the tour… I was 21 and had broken down, but (going to the hospital) was the safest thing I've ever felt.
“I still consider it positive, because it forced me to be honest with people (including the media) so I did that because everyone thought I went to the hospital because of addiction or eating disorder.”
Being a mom, Franky says she's been on vacation with friends recently and people have been asking her husband about his staying away from home and how his kids feel about it.
“I told Wayne,” when you went snowboarding, did someone ask you about the kids, how did I feel about you being away? ” And he said, “No, not once,” she added.
When it comes to cultivating double standards, she makes clear:
“And he's great. He drops out of school, rings his mother and organizes play dates, but I'm still doing all the admins… They have PE today, they need a full lunch, it's this person's party and I have a present for them. But why is he praised for everything I do every day?”
The life of a girl of change is now available only in Rayo.
