Melanie Shaw was unlawfully detained for over 24 hours and then, as an extremely vulnerable person, was released onto the street without her mobile phone or any money (which was also “confiscated” by the police).Below is an open letter from UKColumn to Lowell Goddard DNZM, Chair of the CSA Independent Commission into Child Sexual Abuse. The letter asks Mr Goddard how he intends to protect Melanie Shaw and other child abuse victims, whistleblowers and witnesses from intimidation and harassment. The CSA Commission acknowledged receipt of our original email on 27 July 2015 at 17:33, and stated that they aim to…
What does it feel like to be shot with a water cannon? Who is the greatest power in the world? The United States has the greatest military and China is seen as an economic superpower, but few consider Europe a force to be reckoned with. The European Union is often seen as little more than a collection of squabbling, powerless nation states, but that is not how the EU wants to see itself. From humble beginnings as the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), it has grown through the European Economic Community to a powerful economic union of 28 countries with enough influence to make a difference in the world.Professor John McCormick, in his…

Of particular interest to UK columns is the discussion of the Holly Greig abuse case in an interview with David Scott and Brian Gerrish of Northern Exposure.Documents obtained by UK Column and posted on the internet show that the Scottish Government and establishment are still desperately trying to prevent exposure of their involvement in the abuse and subsequent cover-up in the Holly Greig case. The latest scam is Google's move to block and remove content from bloggers and supporters of Hollie Greig, an action now being backed by Police Scotland who appear to be directly threatening bloggers.Of particular interest to…
Conservative MP Frances Maude is the guardian of transparency in David Cameron's Conservative Party. Aside from the fact that the Conservative Cabinet falsified meeting minutes to hide its internal dealings with the political charity Common Purpose, there seems to be a darker shadow lurking behind the Conservative Party's transparency, especially when it comes to child abuse. Let's get to the dark heart of the British government. On 21 June 2015, the Sunday Mail published an exclusive interview with the National Crime Agency on its front page and a two-page supplement. With the shocking headline “Crime Chief: 750,000 Men Want Child Sex”,…
Instead of protecting Melanie, Nottingham Police harassed, intimidated and bullied her. From threatening phone calls, to being chased in police cars, falsely arrested and having a group of police break into her home, it's clear that the police were targeting her. Why?How do you prove that multiple agencies conducted a coordinated attack on vulnerable child abuse accusers over a long period of time? Proving it can take many pages of evidence. Sometimes it's best to keep it as simple as possible to get the big picture. The flowchart attached to this article is a very simple chronology of what happened…

Having been convicted on what the court deemed insufficient evidence, Melanie was given a “probationary” sentence by the probation service, after which she was subjected to prolonged harassment by Nottingham Police.Melanie Shaw is still incarcerated in Peterborough Prison. She has been in custody since February 2015, and has spent all but three days of that time in solitary confinement. She says it is cold and she has no sunlight. On Saturday, June 13, 2015, a kind member of the public was finally able to visit her. As a prisoner in custody, she should receive visitors every day. But Sodexo, the…
“This wasn't supposed to happen.” says the BBC's Nick Robinson. This election was not supposed to happen like this. This is characterized by a lack of confidence in political leaders, rooted in an overwhelming lack of trust felt by most voters. Why else would Prime Minister David Cameron promise to pass legislation to block tax increases that are not mentioned in his manifesto but which he has long vowed not to raise? Why else would Ed Miliband resort to “carving in stone” promises that are so broad and general that it is almost impossible to determine whether they have ever…
