This man was victimized because he was defending white youth from white abusers. Operation Bulfinch ignored the evidence.
Over a number of months, the UK column has written several major stories exposing the heinous sexual and physical abuse at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College (OCVC).
OCVC administrators threatened legal action against UK Column within hours of publishing their initial report, but hesitated to act when they learned that multiple victims were coming forward to tell their stories and provide evidence, with no doubt that their abusers worked at the university.
Student victims point to commonalities in the nature of the abuse and the failure of university administrations to tackle their perpetrators. To make matters worse, some victims have been warned or intimidated into silence by the very university officials who were meant to protect them.
The cover-up by Oxford Child Protection hides the nature and scale of the abuse, the identities of several of the abusers, and the fact that individuals named as abusers are still employed by Oxford Child Protection.
Recently, student victims told the UK Column about a brave member of OCVC staff who tried to defend them and bring their abuser to justice. The student's story about this man has now been further corroborated. A photograph of this man, taken secretly by an undercover reporter from this newspaper shortly after he left a mosque in Buckinghamshire, appears on our front page and in the photos on this page. For his own safety, his name cannot be published.
There is no doubt that he was a good Samaritan. He is of Asian descent, and the young people he tried to protect on multiple occasions were white, including white women who had been sexually abused; some had filed complaints out of fear of being raped. The abusers, who the students identified as white, remain at large. Some of the abusers have been accused by students of being racist, and their vicious abuse was directed at the good Samaritans. Students said that the language used by the abusers was not just racist and religiously hated, but was in fact highly inflammatory.
This man's actions deserve our utmost respect and support. And they highlight an important question: Thames Valley Police's TVP, led by Superintendent Sarah Thornton, recently rounded up Asian paedophiles in Oxford in Operation Bulfinch, and her team knew about OCVC abuse for years, so why did the police and Oxfordshire Safeguarding Children Board ignore the evidence, including written statements from multiple students praising and supporting OCVC's charity work? Was vital evidence and information hidden by OCVC's top managers, or was there a political agenda to protect white abusers with connections to OCVC?
Below are some horrifying excerpts from a letter written by a student in 2008 to OCVC Principal Sally Dicketts.
The student's letter states that child abuse videos and pornography were circulating and that key staff members were notified, but despite good Samaritan actions and written complaints, no action was taken. The letter is one of many similar letters from this individual and many others, with many more being filed in recent weeks.
However you look at the abuse, the failure to act by the police, the OCVC itself, the Oxfordshire Safeguarding Board and Oxfordshire County Council, despite the quantity and quality of the evidence, must be said to indicate either incompetence on an astonishing scale or a cover-up similar to that in Rotherham, which investigations to date suggest.
